Behaviour Policy Detail (In addition to Link Behaviour Policy)
Our values underpin all our school life and help us to live out our vision each day. We show curiosity as we explore and discover new ideas, kindness in the way we treat others, courage to face challenges and try new things, and resilience to keep going when things are difficult. Together, these values guide us to grow, learn and flourish as a caring and confident community.
Curiosity Kindness Courage Resilience
“Ready, Respectful, safe” (RRS) is a behaviour management approach that serves as a memorable and simple set of expectations to encourage positive choices and supportive environment. The phrase signifies being Ready to learn, Respectful to others and the environment, and Safe for oneself and those around.
What this means in practice:
· Ready: Being prepared to learn, participate, listen
· Respectful: Treating oneself, peers, adults, the school building, and the wider community with consideration and care.
· Safe: Ensuring one’s own safety and the safety of others by being mindful of their surroundings and activities.
There is a deep consistency to the same three words – Ready, Respectful, Safe – being used every day, by everyone. We use these words to underpin our Relational Approach – it is a whole school language to ensure expectations are met across the school.
Each class draws up a class agreement at the start of the year with more detailed expectations of behaviour in line with our commitment to the Relational Approach. This will be deferred to regularly in class and revised when appropriate throughout the year. This will be frequently referred to in class, especially when discussing any less acceptable behaviour.
We have a positive ethos to behaviour in school, recognising effort and upholding the school values. We have a Houses system where children collect house points for their houses, working as a team to be awarded as many house points as possible. Our House Captains are our role models and encourage the whole school community to do their very best.
We celebrate super hard work by displaying it and instilling a sense of pride. Each week in our celebration worship we also recognise the efforts and achievements children have made outside of school. Children can share awards, exciting achievements and extra-curricular accomplishments. We also celebrate in school effort with certificates each week.
